“Why are you so tall?” the child asked the towering forest folk.
“So I can touch the sky whilst I wander,” said the tree.
“But why do you need to touch the sky?” the child asked.
“Because my roots have enabled me to grow tall and have given me wings that allow me to fly,” replied the tree.
“But where did you get your wings?” asked the child.
“From the love and nurture that brought me up and allowed me to grow tall,” said the tree.
“But your roots are right here?” questioned the puzzled child.
“Yes,” said the tree. “We all have roots and my roots will always be here but my wings will take me wherever I wish to go.”
