Wildlife Friendly Reindeer Food

Who doesn’t love the magic of Christmas eve, looking up to the skies to try and catch a glimpse of Father Christmas on Christmas eve with all the anticipation and excitement it brings….One of our most favourite family Christmas traditions is to get prepared for Father Christmas’ visit, lay out a plate with a mince pie and a glass of milk, and a carrot for Rudolph always goes down well too! Along with this we always ensure not to forget the rest of the reindeers waiting outside and to keep up their energy for the long flight we like to sprinkle some magical reindeer food for them to feast upon.

The kids love to make this super cute wildlife friendly reindeer food, and here’s how you can make yours to..

What you will need..

*Hessian or fabric to wrap your food in (we bought some Santa sacks in the pound store to cut up!)

*Rolled oats & leaves to make the reindeer food

*Pom Poms for the reindeer noses

*Googly eyes

*Ribbon to tie

*Sandwich bags

*Strong glue

Our first job was to make the reindeer food, we used a craft punch to punch some colourful dried out autumn leaves and petals…How pretty do they look!We then mixed this with our oats, you could add some edible glitter if you fancied but please do not add normal glitter as this can be harmful to wildlife if sprinkled outside. Then we cut some squares of our hessian and placed a few large scoops of our reindeer food into a sandwich bag..Lastly we bundled up the hessian around our reindeer food, tied with our ribbon and used our strong glue to attach our eyes and reindeer nose.
