Strawberry Fields – Blue Skies at Over Farm
Visiting a pick your own farm really has to be the essence of summer! It’s delicious fun for all the family and there’s nothing better than visiting whilst the skies are blue…Today we visited Over Farm in Gloucester and the strawberries were out in abundance.
We grabbed a reusable punnet bucket which was given to us at a rechargeable cost of £2 per picker and set off into the fields.
The strawberry plants were on raised beds so we didn’t even have to bend down, and for the smallest of pickers they were ideal.
And it wasn’t long before our punnets started to fill.
Some filled the punnets and others just filled their faces.
There was even a fun prop to take a photo…
How about making a FRUIT OWL?
It was a beautiful day to pick The most perfect of days.
When we had finished filling our buckets we headed to the farm shop to get them weighed.
And the farm shop itself was fabulous and filled with an amazing array of produce, home-grown fresh fruit, vegetables, pickles, cheeses, butchery, cakes…everything you could think of. It was a real feast for the eyes.
They even had ostrich eggs!
We chose some lovely homemade meringue to go with our strawberries and raspberries, some fine selected beers and some sweets.
And before we left we visited the horses.
And when we got home we made the most magnificent pavlova.
It was such a lovely day.
