South Wales Halloween Events 2017

We’ve got together with our FD local group members to find out where the recommended places are to visit over the Halloween period 2017 throughout South Wales and its surrounding area. Here are some of the events that have been suggested…

Dewstow Grottoes Pumpkin & Black Cat Trail and spooky Halloween tunnel.

Usual garden entry fees apply with the Pumpkin Trail charged at £1.
Adults £7,
Senior Citizens £6,
Young people aged 11-18 yrs £4.
6 yrs to 10 yrs £2 and
5 and under FREE.
Season Ticket Holders free.

Visit Puzzlewood between 21st and 29th October and search the mysterious woods for witches, pumpkins, goblins and more! Hiding in mossy gulleys, under wooden bridges, in spooky trees and beside secret benches. Find them and receive a prize for you. No need to book, just pop along and dress up!

Over Farm’s spectacular Spookyard Halloween event is jam-packed with Halloween activities that the whole family will enjoy this October half term. Get ready to jump aboard our tractor-trailer, pick your free pumpkin from our pumpkin patch, carve a spooky pumpkin design, laugh out loud at our fascinating shows, stroke a slimy snake, win a treat when you’ve found all our scarecrows and much more!   Saturday 21-Sunday 29 October | 10am-4pm

Halloween Nights are making a SPOOK-tacular return to St Fagan’s this October! So put on your most blood-curdling costume to walk around the Museum after dark if you dare! Bring a torch, or make a lantern while you’re here in our creepy craft workshop. Watch the Wicker Man burn and make a wish as the sparks fly high, then join the lantern parade. You’re sure to enjoy a night of shadow and light and FRIGHT-fully good family fun!

Halloween nights run on 29th-31st October.
The price of this event includes parking.Enjoy the museum after dark, join in the lantern parade and watch the bonfire.

Tickets: £15 adult, £8 child (under 16)

Deep underground in Dan Yr Ogof Cave our annual ‘Halloween experience’ takes place. Long before you get to the unique setting for our Halloween festivities the cries, moans of the ghosts, and ghouls can be heard echoing through the cave! Looking up you will see witches flying out of the smaller cave passageways as they make their way to Cauldron Chamber, which is the starting point for this unearthly event.

WARNING Young children may find this event frightening, as will others of a nervous disposition…
Should you not have the courage to visit our ‘underworld Halloween’ you can just retrace your steps, and miss out this section of the cave.

Halloween Broomstick School
Firstly a trip to Broom Stick School! Here you will choose a broomstick to weave and then decorate with our resident Willow Weaving Witches!
Then practice riding your broomstick …Into the Great Chamber within the Manor House for Halloween storytelling !
Finally…Down into our Rural Tudor Rooms for Slime school with our Ugly Witch…make your very own stretchy slime to take home!

FearFest-Evil, the ultimate Halloween Horror event on Friday the 13th October at the National Diving & Activity Centre (NDAC) Chepstow.
They’re ramping up the EVIL!! Not for kids!! Or for the faint-hearted.

Have some outdoor fun at Old Down Country Park this half term and take part in fun Halloween-themed activities. Just £5 park entry for half term!
Pumpkin Carving from 10am – 1pm every day. £2 supplement per child
Marshmallow Toasting from 2pm-3pm every day for free!
And Why not join them for Pumpkin Seed planting in June in our park gardens. Your seeds from the Pumpkin Carving day will be safely stored by our park-keepers until it’s the perfect time to plant them. Then, your pumpkins will be grown ready for next years Halloween! (21st-29th October).

On Saturday 28th October Greenmeadow Community Farm will be having some Halloween fun with the Nearly Wild Show from 10-5pm.

FOR ONE DAY ONLY Green Meadow are delighted to welcome Chris & the gang from The Nearly Wild Show. Chris will be presenting his array of more unusual and slightly spooky animals including Snakes, Bearded Dragons, Leopard Geckos, Wood Turtles, Scorpions, Tarantulas and more!! A very memorable experience where you can learn lots of interesting facts about these fascinating creatures and enjoy hands-on opportunities 🙂 This is a bookable event £7 per child including farm admission (£3 for Yearly Pass Holders), normal admission for adults. Please note normal admission applies to those not wishing to attend the Nearly Wild Show (£5.95 per adult, £4.85 per child, age 2+, £21 Family 2 adults and up to 3 children) Spaces are limited, book in advance to avoid disappointment, please call 01633 647662! Saturday 28th October it’s the annual Halloween Fireworks display at Chepstow Racecourse from 5-9pm.Love fireworks?
Be dazzled by a shower of colours, sparkle and music.
With face painters, magicians, sideshows, bars and delicious food, there’s something for the whole family.
They’ll be music and entertainment in front of the main stands hosted by Kally Davies from Capital FM.
There is also a fantastic FUN FAIR on site!

Clearwell caves are inviting over 18’s to a Halloween party underground ground on Saturday 28th. A spectacular party in a partly candlelit cavern, 100ft underground! Tickets include a couple of hotdogs or burgers (veg options available) to keep you dancing through the night.
