Preschooler Chalk Agility Course

Preschooler Chalk Agility Course

Ms A is three years old and is just starting to get excited about learning colours and shapes. She also loves to get active and play outdoors. She likes a challenge too. So with this in mind, I wanted to make an easy course for her to follow which would allow her to practice her colours and shapes and keep her focused in a fun active way whilst encouraging her recognition skills.

I did this by drawing a simple course on the floor in the backyard using paving chalk.

I started with just a few instructions for her to follow on a clear chart and took her through what each symbol represented. And after showing her how it was done by completing the course myself I let her jump, hop, tip toe and balance herself.

She soon got the hang of it and was zipping around whilst I sat and counted how long it took her.

It was such a simple set up and it kept her entertained and active for ages. And it was so easy to add more symbols for her to learn.

Family Days Tried and Tested
🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️😷🍿🎬 We’re thr 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️😷🍿🎬 We’re throwing a ‘lockdown heroes’ treat night for the children as a reminder to them of how proud we are of them holding it together during the lock down.
I made some printouts to set the scene and we’ll have treats and watch a superhero movie.
This pandemic is so hard on everyone and it’s so easy to overlook how well the children are cracking on throughout, they are so resilient when it comes to change but it’s such an incredibly emotional and unknown time for their little minds.

So this little treat night is a reminder to them that they too are hero’s in their own right and that we’re proud of the part they play too 💖
🚶‍♀️🚶📮✉️🌈🚪 We took a walk 🚶‍♀️🚶📮✉️🌈🚪 We took a walk around our neighbourhood and used the time to practice our colours by spotting different coloured doors. We took a photo so we could sit down and look at them when we got home too.
A really simple, fun and educational activity, with the bonus of fresh air too 👌

**All the doors opened onto the main pavement meaning that there were not any front gardens or paths, so we didn’t trespass 😉
🌳📏Finding out how old trees are using string 🌳📏Finding out how old trees are using string!
We used a piece of string on which we made a mark every 2.5cm along, we then chose our trees and wrapped the string around the girth of the tree around 1.5m up (5ft).
The then we counted the points on the marker and each point (2.5cm) was equal to 1 year.
This tree is was around 52 years old.
🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️📝 This morning I wrot 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️📝 This morning I wrote a poem and popped it on the door to remind the children that I think they are heroes of lockdown in their own right, here’s what it reads..

Dear kids,
I want to remind you,
That I think you’re quite amazing,
And I’m proud of what you do.

You’ve adapted during lockdown
And I know you miss your school
But you’ve held it all together
And I think you’re really cool

I know it’s not been easy
But you’ve rocked in every way
And been strong throughout the lockdown
And a hero everyday

It’s been tough to follow guidelines
To stay at home and not explore
To not visits parks or playground
And help with learning & with chores

And I’m proud of your achievements
Whilst we all stay safe at home
When we’re missing all our loved ones
That we talk to on our phones

So I wanted to say that you’re a hero
And I know this virus is a poo
But you’re helping our world stay safe
In everything you do

So know that you’re amazing
And know that you’re divine
Know that you have got this
And you’re really doing fine

And everyday you show me
That you’re brave and that you’re smart
And mostly that you’re wonderful
And for that you hold my heart

You rock!!
