Prehistoric Ice Age Meltdown Challenge
We decided we were going to make our own prehistoric ice age scene and attempt to save our prehistoric friends from the big freeze.
We had lots of fun and messy play with a little scientific education thrown in…
Here’s how we got on.
I froze some dinosaurs in a bowl to make our ice age lake..
I froze some smaller dinosaurs in plastic eggs and once frozen I ran them under a little warm water to loosen then from the egg case.
I placed our diplodocus into a water filled ziplock bag before placing it into the freezer, once frozen I ran it under warm water to mould the ice around him..
I then placed all our iced induced dinosaurs into a tray surrounded by soil and leaves.
We then collected some kitchen household items to use to try and thaw our prehistoric friends from the big freeze!
We tried with ketchup, vinegar, salt, baking powder and lemon juice along with banging, scraping, chipping and bashing…
Finally with a little warm water our dinosaurs began to slowly escape..
We had lots of fun experimenting…
And made LOADS of mucky mud squelching prehistoric mess!!!
