Pinecone Hedgehogs

Pinecone Hedgehogs

We love the Autumn and it really is the most wonderful time to find plenty of autumnal natural treasures to use in crafts and play. And what a better way to do this than to make your very own hedgehog family out of pinecones.

You can get the kids excited about walking and head out on a hunt for pine cones.

Things you will need:

  • Pinecones
  • Air drying clay (you could also use play dough)
  • Googly eyes

At almost 3 years old, Ms A loves to get involved with crafts and this was a really easy one for her to get her hands on.

I set out some pieces of clay for her – big chunks to make the hedgehog heads and smaller chunks to make the legs. We rolled out the large chunks to form flat discs and used our hands to mould them onto the end of our pinecones. We then pushed in our googly eyes and left them to dry overnight.

This would be the perfect craft to combine with our Learning About Hibernation fun.
