Llyn Y Fan Fach Glacial Lake (Brecon Beacons)

Our first love is exploring as a family & living in Wales gives us great opportunity, we do this with our children, 2,5,8,10 & 16 in tow, we endeavour to make our walking magical & exciting for the kids..
We like cake & beautiful views.
Llyn y Fan Fach is a glacial lake surrounded by spectacular and gorgeous views, nestled in the mountains, its dark waters give rise to a century old legend of the lady of the lake. We walked 1.5 miles up a track from the car park to discover the lake. Its waters filled a hollow eroded by a glacier during the last ice age that ended 11.500 years ago.
Our walked took us 4 hours of gentle strolling, playing in the river and around an hours stop at the lake for tea and cake. There is also the option to walk further on up onto the Carmarthen fans for a ridge walk, we opted against this today.
We parked in the car park opposite The Keepers House..Map Here.
Here’s how our walk went…
We had cake when we reached the lake!
We found a wheelbarrow which the kids used to play mean machines with a beautiful view..
Some of us got more muddy than others…
And then we headed back down…
We even spotted some Red Kite flying above us….

I want to be back in Wales NOW!
Your photos are stunning, I love that one low down with the wellies in the foreground, very clever.
If my Other Half sees this, he’ll be off in search of his next wild swim!
Thankyou, Wales is beautiful and you must return 🙂
