Leaf Lions
Autumn is the most wonderful time for children to embrace imagination and head outdoors to play! And with so many leaves on the ground at the moment we decided to collect some leaves and have some fun with them.
The leaves that we collected were a fabulous golden colour – very much like the mane of a lion. So that’s exactly what we decided to make.
Here’s what you will need
Leaves
Cardboard
Stapler
We spent some time talking in the sunshine and collecting the leaves as we went. It was a really good way to get the kids enthused about walking by giving them mission to pick up the leaves that reminded them of a lion.
I then used a piece of card to draw a template for our lions mask. You could use a paper plate.
I cut out the circle.
I then used a stapler to attach the leaves we had collected.

I then used a strip of card which I measured to fit Jude’s head and then attached to the circle with the stapler along with another strip of card which went over the top of his head like a pair of headphones to stop it slipping.
Finally, we used a few more leaves on the front to build up the volume of our lion’s mane. And it was ready to wear!
What a wonderful and not so fearsome lion!
