Dear Zoo Reading Den
Cardboard boxes are great fun. And so are dens and so are books. So we decided to combine all three…
We made a reading den based on the ‘Dear Zoo’ book!
I used acrylic paints to decorate it and filled it with cushions, added some soft toy animals and threw in some chocolate animal biscuits for the animals.
I used a large sturdy box. I cut the top flaps off and used a craft knife to make three rectangular shapes.
After I cut the rectangular pieces out I placed them back into the holes and used packing tape secure them down one side to create an open/shut peekaboo flap.
Then I painted it with acrylic paints which I watered down a little with water and applied with a sponge. I used a paintbrush for the finer details.

They had loads of fun snuggling in, reading books and eating biscuits!
