Last week we had the absolute pleasure of staying at Cofton Country Holiday Park. And what a fabulous time we had.
We’d booked a month earlier to camp upon the recommendation of friends and really had no idea just how lovely it would be.
Nestled within the beautiful countryside of south Devon it was an ideal location for us just a mile away from the ocean. Ww like to explore and with the lure of the seaside it seemed like the perfect spot. Little did we know that there would be so much to do on site that we wouldn’t want to leave.
Initially we had booked to stay in a tent and make use of all the facilities but due to a little one being poorly we ended up staying in a caravan… And it really was like a home away from home.
Cofton is an award-winning site and the reasons for this really shone through, with lots of different options they accommodate for everyone. From camping, to caravanning, right through to cottages, holiday homes and luxury apartments… there really is something to suit all budgets.
We arrived on a Friday morning and, although our accommodation was not ready until 3pm, we were given complimentary drinks vouchers for the diners poolside and were able to use all the facilities whilst we waited. We found this was a real benefit after travelling a long way with the children and it meant that we could really squeeze every minute of fun into our time away.
We took some time to familiarise ourselves with the site before checking out our holiday home.
Our holiday home was a Teign. It sleeps up to six people in one double bedroom and two twin bedrooms and was ideal for us. It was double glazed and centrally heated and had all the mod cons you would need for a self catering holiday away from home.
In one of the twin rooms one of the beds can be stowed away under the other to make way for a travel cot but the baby slept in the double bed with us.
There is a main bathroom with shower and washbasin as well as a separate toilet and basin.
We had a family sized picnic table outside and lots of lawn to play on and discard bikes, etc.
After settling in we headed for the outdoor pools.
We had a quick stop in the poolside shop to buy an ice-cream and some rubber rings which were well-priced at just £5 each. The shop itself was like a mini supermarket with everything you could possibly need – and pleasingly nothing was overpriced.
There was loads of space around the pools to sit and watch the kids…
The pools were overlooked by life guards and you could even sit at a table and order food whilst watching the kids. It really was a grand set up and very appealing to families.
The food was of a very good standard too. It could get a little pricey if you have a few children to cater for but the portion sizes were good enough to share.
Alongside the pool area was a games room which the kids enjoyed. And although they did fleece us out of 2p coins we were not overwhelmed by expensive ride on machines. It was bearable and traditional fun.
The park itself is nestled in such beautiful surroundings. It’s a haven for wildlife and nature and great for outdoor exploring. We took a walk around some of the fishing lakes and felt like we were in a lost world of lushness. It really was glorious and unexpected…
The site facilities included a fish and chip shop, launderette, tackle shop and fishing lakes, numerous parks, shops, indoor soft play and games rooms, restaurants, indoor and out door pools, sauna, steam room, fitness gym and much more.
There were several play areas around the site.
And you could camp in an orchard. How cool is that!?
There were donkeys!
And a fabulous woodland to explore which had a great adventure playground hidden inside with a fabulous zip wire that the kids loved.
Even the smallest members of the family were catered for.
And handily the soft play areas were situated next to the games room so we could all still stay close to each other as a family.
The indoor pool was brilliant with lots of splash areas to keep the kids amused and an indoor and outdoor terrace area for those who just wanted to watch…
The above is only a brief glimpse into all that is on offer at Cofton, we only stayed for a weekend but were so impressed that we will be returning in the autumn/winter months.
Please do check out their website to discover more. They have an array of places to eat, indoor and activities and oodles of great entertainment during the day and in the evening. It’s a fantastic place for adults and children alike and the PERFECT place for a family break.
**I would like to add that we were not asked to do a review of Cofton and had prepaid and booked our stay previous to our decision to write our blog. We were so impressed by the customer service combined with the fantastic site, our own experience and the huge amounts of positive feedback from our followers which had also visited Cofton that we felt it should be shouted about.
Booking a family getaway can be very daunting and sometimes quite a worry but with Cofton there is nothing to worry about. As a holiday venue they excel in what they do in every aspect and should be very proud of themselves.
