Cannop Ponds – Forest Of Dean
Here’s an idyllic place to visit this Summer… Cannop Ponds is quite a magical place for paddling in streams that amble amongst the forest – take a towel! There is an abundance of a different variety of birds ideal for bird watching and if you are very lucky you may come across some wild boar which regularly visit the site.
Facilities at the ponds include a large car park, information boards, picnic tables and a way-marked walk. There is a burger van serving hot and cold food and drinks. The ponds also feature on the Forest of Dean Family Cycle Trail so is an ideal place for bike riding. The ponds are used for fishing.
Cannop Ponds are situated just off New Road in the Forest Of Dean (here’s a MAP).
Cannop Ponds is the ideal place to set up your own Boat Building Yard.
You can find out more about Cannop Ponds on the Forestry Commission website.
The parking is not free any more.
I don’t ever remember parking being free and I used to live there
This visit was from a few years ago so yes, there are now parking charges. I’ll amend the post.
