Boo’s Basket – Exploring Vegetables
Today’s basket adventure was all about vegetables! At 10 months old Ms A loves to explore things. She loves to pick things up and examine then intricately, the textures, looks, smells and tastes. She really gets to grips with digging in and exploring. Exploring vegetables is a great way to familiarise your child with different veggies.
Boo’s Vegetable Basket Included
A selection of vegetables
Two zip lock bags filled with sweetcorn and peas
Two sensory bottles filled with water and sweetcorn and peas
A bowl of cooked vegetables for her to taste
A story book with vegetables in
A saucepan and some wooden spoons for her to crash and bash
I used a tablecloth pinned against the wall and dropped over the floor as our exploration zone
Once set up, I stripped her off just leaving on her nappy as I knew it would get messy!
Then I sat with her and let her freely explore the contents of the basket. She had a wail of a time.
Here’s how we got on…
She quickly got to grips with the contents of the basket and made a beeline for the broccoli. And after inspecting it she opted to test its chompability.
Then she tested out the sweet potato…
It wasn’t long before she was squishing it through her fingers.
And toes…
Then she got to grips with the sensory bottles.
She seemed to have a questioning look each time we turned the bottle over.
We then explored the pumpkin. I let her investigate it before cutting it open.
She couldn’t resist a nibble.
And then she discovered that the top came off.
She had a good root around.
Before getting distracted by the ziplock bags.
She had a wonderful time with the vegetables, squishing and squashing and tasting things. She made a lot of mess but had great fun!
