Recreating Art

Recreating Art

We decided that we were going to embark on a week of learning about some great artists & with a hands on approach got the kids to recreate some of their favourite pieces they learnt about, our week was to finish by heading out to create our own outdoor exhibition.

Here’s what we did…

We recreated Damien Hirst’s ‘For The Love of God’ using a plastic skull and stick on Diamanté from Poundworld.

We then headed out to recreate some pieces by ‘Banksy’.

We made our own under-table Sistine chapel so we could paint the ceiling like Michael Angelo.

We even tasted art in the form of a jelly recreation of a Damien Hirst piece.

We decided on a spot to take our artworks.

We hung our Kandinsky and used Blu-tack to stick butterflies to the concerted blocks to recreate Damiens Hirst’s trademark Butterfly works.

And we used chalk to recreate his ‘spots’ work.

We used a sheet to make our Dali click and used chalk to recreate our Banksy pieces.

When we had finished we tidied up after ourselves.

The kids have had a fun week learning about some great artists, this has been achieved in a way that hasn’t cost the earth, has not bored them but will stay with them forever.

What is art though? We discovered above all that beauty is really in the eye of the beholder.
