The Magical Dewstow Gardens & Grottoes

IMG_7325

This really is a hidden gem, we visited on a gloriously sunny day in the middle of summer when the gardens were at there best bloom.

We spent a good 5 hours exploring the grottoes and underground pathways looking for fairies, we had tea and cake in the quaint cafe which was very reasonably priced and treated ourselves to some delicious homemade cake.

After stopping for cake we carried on our fairy hunting returning back down underground into the grottoes to find nooks and crannies, small pools & a pretty gully we had missed. Back over ground we explored the vast are incredibly well maintained gardens, lakes and lawns. There was plenty of space for the kids to run free and a flower haven for all little girls, although there was no park for the kids to play on it really wasn’t needed as they were content running and adventuring through the gardens.

The gardens were a fantastic opportunity to take some snaps if you are a keen photographer…check out the stunning collection of colourful natural explosions that you can expect, there were ample Glorious Flowers

The parking was fab and toilets were clean. Overall we found Dewstow a beautiful afternoon out and could quite easily of spent a lot longer there with the aid of a picnic. Very magical & pretty and well worth considering a season ticket for around £15 to visit time & time again to watch the seasons change. It is not recommendable to take a pushchair as you would be limited in exploring the grottoes due to stepping stones, uneven ground, gravel etc..but please do not let this put you off because it is an enchanting place for little people. Highly recommended.
