Biblins Bridge Adventure

Biblins Bridge

We decided we were going to go on a Billy Goat Gruff adventure and found the perfect spot to do so.

Biblins Bridge, nestled along the river Wye, is pretty spectacular and is home to an elusive Mr Gruff whom is said to sleep so soundly you can get away with grossing the bridge without awakening him… he slept soundly as we crossed.

We started our walk from the campsite that sits next to the bridge. We initially parked at the top of the hill but decided to head down the track in the car to check out the Forestry Commission campsite. (It looks fab and we’ve decided to revisit to camp another time.)

The Forest of Dean is always beautiful but today it had a lushness of summer even in the rain…

Whilst we were their we foraged for wild garlic which we took home and made some AWESOMELY EASY KID MADE GARLIC BREAD.

We walked along the river, watched canoes pass, threw stones in the water, climbed trees and found a fab place for ice cream at the end of the path in Symonds Yat… 1.5 miles down the track which was suitable for bikes and buggies.

Here’s how it looked…

At the end of the track there was a pub, tea shops, kayak hire and boat ride. You could even cross the river on a small hand pulled ferry.

It really was fabulous and we’ll be returning to camp and maybe laze on a boat and float down the river on a hazy lazy summers day…

This walk was recommend in OFFICIAL FAMILY DAYS LOCAL FORUM – Finding hidden gems in South Wales and the surrounding areas.
